The Role:


The role is in the Service Enablement - Healthy Waterways Team and is responsible for project development planning to facilitate on ground works which will lead to restoration and rehabilitation along the Melbourne's waterways to improve waterway health and geomorphological form.


Further this role has responsibility for condition and reliability monitoring of waterway assets such as fishways, creek erosion mitigation structures, wetlands and estuaries.


This is a unique role It has a blend of field work along creeks and waterways, office-based work, as well as WFH.


Your Skills and Experience:


If you have additional technical skills in geomorphology, waterway ecology and can read and review technical engineering designs that will be looked upon very favourably.


On a weekly basis you will be balancing you time between developing projects and managing asset condition and performance monitoring of fishways, creek erosion mitigation, wetlands and estuaries, therefore you will be highly organised and prioritise appropriately according to project milestones and deadlines.


A key feature for this role, is that once you complete the project planning you will hand the project over to a Project Manager.

You must have reliable stakeholder engagement skills as you work with the Project Manager and engage with internal teams such as Service Delivery, external groups such as Parks Victoria and DEECA, and project partners such as private landowners and community groups.

Very importantly you have a demonstrated commitment to safety and wellbeing. All your actions support following safe work practices for yourself and for others that you interact with.


This role will require a Working with Children Check as access to some waterways will be through some school grounds.
