The Role:


Reporting to the Manager Asset Strategy & Performance this role will provide advanced strategic asset management, process analysis, and stakeholder engagement expertise for the improvement of Melbourne Water's asset management system and processes.


You will be joining a dynamic team consisting of two parts; the strategic element that leads in the development of asset management rules, tools, maturity, benchmarking and improvements; and the performance element that develops reports and provides information on how Melbourne Water is performing to our internal stakeholders.

You contribute to team meetings to set team priorities.

Your Skills and Experience:

We are seeking a highly experienced Specialist with expert knowledge in:

  • asset management concepts and frameworks
- asset management maturity models such as GFMAM and ISO 55000 standards


A fundamental skill you must bring is the ability to tackle complex technical problems and data, in order to make sense of them.

You are comfortable working with ambiguity.

You will be required to make sense of the ambiguity, unpack the complexity and provide a clear path going forward.

Underpinning the technical aspects of your responsibilities is significant communication skills.

Not only do you have a solid reputation for communicating facts clearly, you also are comfortable relaying complex data respectfully and be willing to engage with an audience in a helpful way, even under challenging circumstances.

Your highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills will be utilised as you manage the expectations, demands and priorities of the role.


Whilst you are able to function independently and autonomously, you are known by your colleagues for the ease in which you can build relationships and engage with stakeholders to form and maintain positive and professional working relationships as you work towards delivery of your work.


Should you have any additional experience or exposure to understanding key planning functions within the AM framework, Change Management, Project Management, investment planning and / or waterways and drainage, this will be looked upon favourably.

The team requires a highly dynamic and flexible professional who can hit the ground running.

You bring a great deal of energy, initiative and passion for your work which has been demonstrated in your previous roles.
