The Roles

This is the time for Australia's best Asset Managers to join Melbourne Water. We are recruiting so YOU can make your mark and influence the whole of Melbourne Water catchment area.

We have the mandate from the Victorian Planning Authority to prepare multiple growth corridors on the outer rim of Melbourne.

Not only will you prepare and shape Melbourne's newest communities, you will also maintain the standard of existing asset infrastructure for the future and for generations to come.

We have multiple positions to be filled across multiple disciplines

These are:
Senior Asset Managers

Specialist Asset Managers

Asset Managers


This role will effectively manage infrastructure assets in collaboration with peers to deliver and optimise capital programs, maintenance regimes, and provide asset management and technical expertise.

The asset portfolios include the Sewerage and/or Water systems which will include but are not limited to pumping stations (e.g. pumps, rising mains, cranes, fire suppression assets, instrumentation); water mains, gravity pipelines, structures, roads and bridges; penstocks and flowmeters; valves, pressure reducing stations and instrumentation; air treatment facilities; sewerage and water Treatment

Skills and Experiences


These roles will lead and coordinate robust stakeholder engagement and communications, which includes communicating complex engineering matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.

It goes without saying YOU have a reliable collection and 'bank' of experiences to draw from to ensure stakeholders are satisfied with the quantity and quality of information provided.


YOU have a solid reputation for and demonstrated ground of respectfully and successfully partnering with key people on projects and communicating with a variety of stakeholders including consultants, local councils, government representatives, planning authorities, developers and community members.


YOU have exceptional stakeholder engagement, resilience and negotiation skills which will be utilised as you navigate complex issues, conversations, expectations and the general demands and priorities of the role.

You have a work style that naturally lends itself to contributing to an inclusive workplace culture that is collaborative, professional and engaged.


Given the workload that we are anticipating in 2023 and onwards, we also expect our staff to self-manage their work/life balance and know how to pace themselves.
