Purpose


The Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for directing the implementation of performance improvement and intervention plans with Service Partners who require intensive performance improvement support.

This role requires a strong understanding of on-site operations across both Workforce Australia and Disability Employment services, data analysis, and performance metrics to help Service Partners set realistic and achievable performance targets.

Your prior experience with collaborating to create target focussed and realistic strategies for action will be highly regarded.


The Performance Improvement Specialist will work closely with Service Partners to negotiate, design, coordinate, and deliver support to improve performance, collecting learnings that will contribute to the communities of practice and ensuring the network stays high performing.


This role involves extensive communication, negotiation, and sales skills, as well as the flexibility to travel as needed to provide on-site assistance.

While the role is remote, Brisbane-based applicants are preferred.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyse data and performance metrics, setting achievable targets with Service Partners
  • Work with service partners to understand needs, negotiate improvement plans, and design support services
  • Manage performance improvement plans from start to finish, delivering onsite and phonebased support
  • Report on department improvement plan requirements and risk metrics
  • Provide temporary feeforservice support as required
  • Communicate regularly with the Strategic Business Partner and Performance and Strategy team

Skills and Experiences:

Required Experience

Operational experience in employment services or a related industry, focused on understanding site dynamics, best practices, common mistakes, and building high-performance teams
Proven track record in data analysis and performance metrics, with the ability to accurately forecast performance improvements and set realistic targets
Experience in managing performance improvement or remediation plans, including plan development, negotiation, implementation, and monitorin
Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a history of successfully generating revenue through the provision of support services
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various stakeholders
Experience in providing on-site or remote support to drive performance improvement
Familiarity with department performance improvement plan requirements, risk metrics, and reporting processes
A background in participating in or leading communities of practice style environments
A willingness and ability to travel interstate as needed

Desirable Experience

Prior experience in a strategic, consultative, or account management role within the employment services, disability services, or a related sector at a mid-senior management level
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective strategies and action plans that drive continuous improvement and positive outcomes for clients and stakeholders
Familiarity with Australian Government programs, contracts, and regulations related to Employment Services or similar initiatives
Experience in workforce planning, process design, and project management, preferably within a service partner or subcontractor environment
Strong track record in managing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including service partners, government agencies, and other key partners
Proven ability to identify, analyse, and address complex challenges and opportunities within a fast-paced, changing environment
Prior exposure to managing and resolving project risks and issues, with a focus on minimising negative impacts and delivering successful outcomes
