The Head of Government and Policy Advocacy for Australia and New Zealand will be part of a strong Government and Policy Advocacy (GPA) team. The team focuses on improving Ericsson's understanding, access, and influence with policymakers regarding crucial business-related policy issues that play a significant role in societal progress. The aim is to impact policy early on, introduce new policy concepts aligned with the company's strategy, and business goals.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Government and Policy Advocacy for Asia, you will strategize and execute government advocacy activities related to Ericsson's policy priorities and stances on a wide array of technology matters to support our business operations.

Your role involves bringing expertise in technology policy, a profound grasp of the policy-making landscape, and external political and geopolitical contexts to help establish a favorable telecommunications policy environment.

Key responsibilities of the Head of Government and Policy Advocacy for Australia and New Zealand include:

  • Formulating and leading advocacy efforts on Ericsson's business and policy priorities with government entities.
  • Creating internal briefing materials for Ericsson executives at local, regional, and global levels.
  • Anticipating and assessing critical public policy issues, coordinating external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and crucial initiatives.
  • Communicating the impact of policy changes on Ericsson's business clearly.
  • Representing Ericsson's interests in industry associations where the company holds membership.
Qualifications
  • Proficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively at corporate and political levels.
  • Delivering factual and relevant messaging convincingly to the target audience.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects across diverse teams within a complex organization.
  • Maintaining the highest ethical standards, confidentiality, and integrity, especially regarding compliance risks related to government interactions.
  • Identifying and analyzing critical technology issues in legislative and regulatory proposals, understanding their business implications, and synthesizing policy documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, data processing from various sources, scenario forecasting, prioritization based on probability and desired outcomes, and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Background in government, corporate entities, or trade associations dealing with public policy matters.
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred in relevant fields like Law, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Technology, Science, or Engineering.
  • Over 7 years of experience in government or corporate public policy, particularly within the tech industry and digital policy.
