The opportunity:


This is a fast-paced and hands on role which calls for an adaptable and results focused individual, capable of navigating a large and complex organisation.


To do this successfully you will:

  • Provide specialist ER/IR advice on complex matters and manage complex, high risk or sensitive cases and coach internally when needed
  • Work closely with Senior Legal counsel to interpret awards, agreements, and legislation to provide practical solutions on ER issues
  • Represent AIA in external setting such as Fair Work Commission, WC, VEOHRC and Industrial Tribunals
  • Develop policies, procedures, templates and checklists on employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, disputes and terminations
  • Build, maintain and monitor the governance framework for P&C policies and procedures-
  • Identify the need to add/review policies ad-hoc in response to emerging legislations and trends
  • Support policy owners in raising awareness with P&C team, leaders and employees on relevant policies as needed
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management and/or Industrial Relations
  • Demonstrated experience in an ER/IR role providing expertise in large and complex organisations-
  • Ability to identify key IR/HR issues and presenting appropriate options, recommendations, assess associated risks and mitigation.
  • Ability to build capability and coaching on ER/IR matters
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations, preparing materials/submission for and representation at Fair Work Commission
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated personal leadership skills, with excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication ability
