The Capital Works Team Opportunity

The Capital Works team is vital in managing and overseeing the department's various building projects. They play a key role in planning and executing these projects efficiently to meet the department's requirements. Working under the guidance of the Principal Program Officer, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate multiple projects using strong project management practices. Collaboration with team members and stakeholders is crucial to ensure project success and compliance.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is dedicated to serving the community by handling fire and emergency situations. The Capital Works team plays a significant role in ensuring that building and accommodation standards are met while optimizing the department's asset portfolio.

Role Overview

The team focuses on program scheduling to deliver capital works efficiently. The role involves strategic planning, adherence to legislation, and providing expert advice on construction projects. Reporting directly to the Principal Program Officer, the responsibilities include overseeing project delivery, ensuring projects are on budget and within schedule, and working closely with stakeholders to meet service delivery goals.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • C Class driver's licence (non-restricted).

Additionally, the following are highly desirable:

  • Experience or qualifications in project management or relevant field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the building industry.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and maintenance programs.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
Key Responsibilities

As part of this role, key responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple capital works projects simultaneously.
  • Evaluating tenders, budgets, and programming to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Providing analysis and advice to stakeholders regarding project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Preparing reports and submissions related to project solutions.
  • Continuous improvement of capital works programs.
