In this role, you'll lead a team to deliver social and PR strategies that contribute to the production, delivery and evaluation of tourism, event and brand marketing campaigns for the ACT.

  • Lead the Social Media and PR Team in developing innovative and creative approaches to support implementation of destination marketing campaign initiatives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative and targeted social media campaigns to be delivered across all channels, designed to generate awareness and reach identified target audiences in local and interstate markets.
  • Implement and manage systems to track social media campaign engagement and effectiveness.
  • Lead a program of pro-actively pitching the destination including its experiences and events to facilitate media coverage across a wide range of channels and publications reaching all target markets.
  • Lead international public relations and social media strategies to generate awareness and reach identified target audiences in international markets.
  • Provide administrative support as required including coordinating finance tasks, maintaining campaign records, preparing briefs and reports and other duties as required.
  • Support the broader Visit and Event teams with projects and programs requiring marketing advice, input and expertise.
  • Understand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework.
  • This position will involve direct supervision of staff.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • A minimum of six years' experience in Marketing and Advertising and/or related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of Canberra and region tourism products, experiences and events (or desire to quickly acquire).
  • Management and budget experience
  • Flexible work hours and some interstate travel
  • A qualification in marketing, public relations or related discipline is highly desirable

Notes: This is a temporary position available from August 2024 for 12 months with the possibility of permanency. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
