Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Early Education or similar. Applicants who are working towards this qualification will be considered if they have minimum of three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a holistic based approach in implementing and overseeing case management, case plans that incorporate appropriate models of intervention, create opportunities, empower and promote the wellbeing of the child /young people through engagement of families and carers
  • Strong interpersonal skills that provide the basis for effective negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution practices and outcomes
  • A nonjudgemental and empathetic approach to engaging and working with children and young people and their families
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of young people and families/careers facing leaving care.
  • Highly developed case management documentation skills including computer literacy
  • Proven ability to develop rapport with carers, child /young people and their families/significant others in order to support informed decisionmaking and skills development for living within the community
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain confidentiality and accountability, including records of children and young people and their families, team, and organisational discussions.
  • The ability to effectively develop and maintain positive working relationships and networks with other Government and Non-Government agencies/services
  • Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relevant Government legislation applicable to the Supported Independent Living Program
