An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Sustainability Team for a passionate and results driven Waterways Project Officer.

In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to actively managing the protection and enhancement of our healthy urban and natural environments while balancing the growth that the LGA is currently experiencing.

This role is responsible for the development and implementation of the stormwater education program, and the implementation of projects to protect and enhance waterways.

Essential:

  • Tertiary Qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent experience in Environmental Education/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/ Environmental Engineering
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of environmental legislative framework
  • Demonstrated experience in the process of environmental reviews, collection of data and interpretation of results
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, promoting, implementing, evaluating and monitoring education projects
  • Ability to write analytical and logical reports drawing justified conclusions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Highly developed time management skills and the ability to manage high workloads
  • High level negotiation and dispute resolution skills with the capacity to make decisions

Desirable:

  • Experience working in local government
  • To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs._
