An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Sustainability team for a passionate and results driven Catchments Project Officer.

In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to actively manage the protection and enhancement of our waterways and catchments while balancing the growth that the LGA is currently experiencing This new role will be responsible for the development of catchment based plans and strategies, and the implementation of projects to protect and enhance waterways.

Essential:

  • Tertiary Qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent experience in Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/ Environmental Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of stormwater and catchment management issues
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, promoting, implementing, evaluating and monitoring catchment management projects
  • Experience in relevant financial administration and budget control for grant funding, contracts and service agreements
  • Ability to write analytical and logical reports drawing justified conclusions
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Highly developed time management skills and the ability to manage high workloads
  • High level negotiation and dispute resolution skills with the capacity to make decisions

Desirable:

  • Experience working in local government
  • To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs._
