An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sport and Recreation team for a passionate and results driven Recreation Officer.

Working with our Recreation Planner you will have the opportunity to drive innovation and see tangible results through the provision of assistance and support in the facilitation of planning, management of sport and recreation projects and policy development that ensures the provision of a wide range of open space and recreation opportunities in the Camden LGA.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in recreation planning, leisure studies, recreation management or equivalent related field
  • Ability to plan, manage and prioritise multiple projects while meeting operational deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a work team
  • Selfstarter with achievement and outcomes orientation
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively within the Council framework of policies and procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to instill confidence and develop good rapport

Desirable:

  • Project and resource management skills and experience
  • Experience in a local government environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory framework
  • Appropriate research, reporting and computer skills


To meet Council's WHS requirements and in accordance with Council's Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication.

If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
