Why your role matters

The Student Success Officer at Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs plays a key role within the Student Success team. Collaborating with team members, this role will support Indigenous undergraduate, postgraduate, and HDR students in achieving their full potential. The focus is on ensuring a seamless transition and positive student experience at UNSW.

This position delivers high-quality engagement, opportunities, and services tailored for Indigenous students. It also involves maintaining a wide range of knowledge across student services, offering personalized and cultural assistance to help students succeed during their university journey.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Managing various inquiries such as timetabling, class registration, degree planning, accommodation, and scholarships.
  • Enhancing students' academic success based on their capacities and interests.
  • Contributing to an inclusive study environment for Indigenous students by organizing educational events and activities.
  • Collaborating with Indigenous staff, community members, and elders to enrich the educational and cultural journey.

This position may entail occasional weekend and after-hour work as needed.

About You:

  • Understanding and appreciation of Indigenous Australian cultures and related issues.
  • Familiarity with legislation and policies relevant to Indigenous students in higher education.
  • Experience in providing pastoral support services and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work effectively in a team.
