The Opportunity
On behalf of a Federal Government Agency based in Geelong we are looking for APS5 Communications Officer. This is a 12-month assignment. The role will paying $55.24 per hour plus super.


Working in the Executive and Corporate Communications team, the Communications Officer is responsible for providing strategic advice, support, and content development for the stakeholders to support the internal and external communications and engagement activity.


Responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the development and production of communications materials, in consultation with internal stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing communication activities to ensure employees have access to information delivered across a variety of channels.
  • Ensuring all communication materials are accessible and align with the style and brand guidelines.
  • Producing content for use across a variety of internal and external channels including newsletters, intranet, website and talking points for staff and partners, and assisting in the delivery of content.
  • Managing correspondence through team inboxes, including actioning requests or triaging requests to relevant team members for action.

To be considered you will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Communications role
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience in editing and writing content
  • Experience building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience in public service/Government will be advantageous
  • Demonstrated experience in developing communication strategies
