The Role

The purpose of the Portfolio Administrator role is to effectively implement the MPS and SMA operations to the business. This involves tasks like new account linking, rebalancing, weekly rebalancing of MPS, responding to queries, and providing details of services to advisers and support staff.

The role also involves supporting SMA operations related to rebalancing issues and escalations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishment of model portfolios on platforms
  • Maintenance of portfolio models, making investment and allocation changes regularly
  • Activating account rebalancing process post-approval of portfolio models from management
  • Generating rebalances on portfolios based on cash positions, model changes, or ad hoc requests
  • Using platform software to generate trades from model portfolio changes and other triggers as instructed
  • Reviewing trades before execution for exceptions like cash or securities availability
  • Being a primary contact for adviser communications, providing updates on portfolio changes, corporate actions, processes, and procedures
  • Handling platform and product queries, resolving issues, and providing support and education to advisers and support staff

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in platform operations, stockbroking, or funds management
  • Knowledge of licensee networks would be beneficial
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Excellent client service abilities
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, or Financial Planning
