Location: Canberra, ACT

Contract Length: Start – 29/04/2024, End – 28/10/2024

Pay rate: $62.07 per hour + Super

Eligibility/Security Requirement: Pending a cleared Police Check

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Client Engagement Officer will be tasked with assessing intricate client needs, validating eligibility for housing, aligning resources with needs, enforcing legislation and policies, and offering frontline client services such as helping individuals access the Central Access Point.

  • Engage and establish rapport with a wide range of clients and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Conduct evaluations of housing assistance applications following client-centered service delivery principles.
  • Align resources with clients' needs and situations.
  • Apply laws and policies in a social services setting.
  • Offer clients timely information and referrals.
  • Generate written content related to evaluations, resource distribution, decision-making, and other governmental obligations.
  • Maintain effective record-keeping habits.
  • Collaborate within and support a small team.
  • Represent Housing ACT in various departmental, governmental, and community gatherings.
  • Exemplify behaviors in line with the ACT Government's Respect, Equity, and Diversity Framework and champion safe work practices complying with the Directorate's Work Health and Safety system.
  • Carry out other job-related tasks as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
  • Show dedication to high-quality, client-centered service provision to a diverse and complicated client base, ability to engage and connect with clients, including a deep understanding of the client group and their housing needs.
  • Display skill in assessing, aligning, and providing services to a diverse client base with high, complex, and urgent needs.
  • Demonstrate advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the capacity to research, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, and other relevant materials related to the department's operations.
  • Exhibit well-developed oral and written communication skills, including relationship-building, communication, and negotiation with community services, governmental bodies, and colleagues.
  • Experience in performing a wide array of administrative duties and maintaining detailed record-keeping standards.
  • Highlight the ability to consistently achieve outcomes, manage workloads and priorities effectively, adjust work practices in response to evolving demands, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Show a commitment to workplace diversity principles, participative work methodologies, and compliance with the ACT Government's Respect, Equity, and Diversity Framework, and the Directorate's Work Health and Safety system.
ELIGIBILITY/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid Driver's License.
Desirable qualifications and experience, although not mandatory:
  • Proficiency in using various IT business and office applications.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Development, or related fields.
