We are a large importer and exporter of aircraft components and material across multiple international customs jurisdictions.

As the Global Customs Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all overseas customs compliance requirements including administration of bonded warehouses, customs clearance functions, reduction of duty & tax liabilities & any licensing requirements through the management of third-party customs brokers and agents.


This role will be crucial to ensure our transactions with the different international customs authorities are compliant and at the same time help to identify and regulate our overall duty and tax exposure by implementing duty minimisation schemes.


You will contribute to the success of the Supply Chain by having accountability for overseas customs risks and you will work in a matrix fashion to drive continuous improvement initiatives within compliance to overseas regulations.

You'll have

  • 23 years' experience of working with trade documents or in a customs tariff environment would be beneficial
  • Prior experience of working with government departments and legal departments would be well regarded
  • Experience working within the Freight forwarding, import and export industries will be advantageous
  • Tertiary qualifications with a major in International Trade or Cert IV in International Trade Facilitation or Diploma of Customs Broking, or have held a Customs Broker license (Australian or Foreign) will be highly regarded
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of international trade documentation, import & export facilitation.
  • Understanding of tariff classification, customs procedures, bonded warehousing administration
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy, carrying out duties often independently.
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to build a network of effective relationships and influence at all levels including senior management
  • Analytical approach to problem solving and capacity to produce results within a given time frame
  • Strong commitment to business improvement and ability to deliver results
  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel suite.
  • Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the logistics, aviation and customs regulations environment.
