Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $101,947 to $112,849 plus super and leave loading


The AHO is a statutory authority, established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) and plans, administers and expands the policies, program and asset base for Aboriginal housing in NSW.

This includes resource allocation, sector-wide policy, strategic planning, and monitoring outcomes and performance in the Aboriginal community housing sector. In order to achieve this AHO receives funding from both the NSW and the Australian Governments.

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking an experienced Quality and Safety Officer to perform audits service contract outcomes, performance and compliance on behalf of internal and external clients to ensure contractual compliance and support the business unit in the delivery of core client services.

This is a significant role which will manage the work, health and safety of AHO's construction projects.

Essential requirements:

  • Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.
Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:

- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socioeconomic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society, and of their impacts in relation to housing. A thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy developments in NSW and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use.
  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 201
  • The role will be heavily site based, with overnight travel, therefore fore ability to travel within NSW is essential

About you
You are an experienced work, health and safety professional with experience within the construction industries - auditing construction contractors. Your background within project management along with Aboriginal community engagement will be paramount in your success in this role.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide auditing, inspection, monitoring and performance management services contracts on behalf of clients to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Maintain contract information databases and ensure data integrity in order to provide effective asset management services for clients, property and the community.
  • Provide a range of project management and support services, including preparation of discussion papers, briefs and submissions, to contribute to the development and delivery of policy initiatives on quality assurance.
  • Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders and coordinate working groups, committee meetings and stakeholder consultations, providing timely advice and information, along with negotiating and influencing strategies.
