About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Engagement Ministry Worker to effectively develop, facilitate and deliver quality needs-based community services with socially relevant and accessible faith pathways.

Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent part-time (22.8 hours per week) position based in Port Macquarie, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3.

You will successfully
  • Assist leaders with the development of a strategic plan for future service delivery.
  • Implement the social services strategic plan approved by leadership.
  • Look for opportunities proactively to meet emerging community needs.
  • Be responsible for existing community ministry activities and in consultation with Corps Officers develop new and innovative community engagement activities.
  • Develop relationships and foster partnerships and collaboration with other internal and external community providers.
  • Lead, train and coordinate volunteers in the Salvos Connect/community space.
  • Oversee the operational and administrative requirements of community services.
  • Communicate information and events with office staff, corps or community using appropriate communication channels.
  • Facilitate access for community members to other Salvation Army mission expressions and link to corps programs and activities.
  • Ensure client records are done in a timely and accurate manner whilst protecting their privacy as appropriate.
  • Liaise with Corps Officers regarding budget for community engagement.
  • Research Federal, State and Local government grants and tenders to provide Social Welfare services locally and liaise with TSA grant support.
You will have
  • Have an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing financial difficulties, homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health etc.
  • A current NSW Driver's Licence.
  • A current NSW Working With Children Check.
  • Minimum 12 months experience (including experience in working in collaboration with other organisations to provide advice to meet client needs).
