About The Role:

The Koorie Liaison Officer position plays a pivotal role in increasing participation with First Nations students through Community and Industry relationships.  The role is an identified role for persons with an Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander background.

The role includes:

  • Establish effective liaison linkages and communication between the local First Nations community & the Indigenous Education centre through personal visits and the distribution of culturally appropriate, quality information on courses and employment opportunities.
  • Ensure culturally safe training programs are developed and provide delivery across the organisation and to external groups as required to enhance successful participation and positive outcomes First Nations students and groups.
  • Undertake environmental scans to identify gaps in delivery, keep up to date with training needs of First Nation organisations and ensure the Indigenous Engagement team remains at the leading edge of program development and delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

  • Prior experience of working with first Nation Communities and held in high respect within the local First Nations of the regions.
  • Certificate IV and/or above qualification in Leadership and Management, Community
  • Services or Project Development and/or high level of experience of working within these fields of expertise.
  • A valid driver's licence and current Working with Children and National Police Clearance.
