This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

Edgewater Primary School is seeking an inspirational and motivated leader to join our leadership team as we pursue our vision to support each child to be an aspirational, confident, and respectful learner.

As a Deputy Principal, you will play a critical role in leading and managing the school and will be responsible for a range of tasks and duties. You will work closely with the Principal and the administrative team to provide educational leadership in the school and the community.

You will ideally be expected to develop middle leadership to reflect on identified school and systematic data to plan for improvement. In this work, developing staff’s data-literacy, understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and/or Early Years Learning Framework will be critical. 

The school has embedded Teaching Sprints that are based on a cycle of targeted professional learning utilising Teaching for Impact alongside coaching and peer observation practices designed to support teaching practice to improve student outcomes.

The school has an open community-based feel, the applicant should be an individual that is dedicated to helping to develop and promote the school's values, ethos, and priorities, and encouraging staff, volunteers, and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.

It will be advantageous if the applicant can display positive behaviour management processes of upper primary students.

The successful applicant will ideally possess exemplary leadership qualities. This means keeping up to date with educational research and trends and using this knowledge to drive improvement and innovation within the school. Establishing and maintaining systems, policies, and procedures to ensure that the school is operating effectively and efficiently and contributing to the development of the School Plan and Annual School Report through participative decision-making is important.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings; High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes; Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs). Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
