About Us

The People and Culture Office (PCO) is an integral part of the business strategy and decision-making process. We are a team of collaborative HR professionals, dedicated to strategic and operational programs and services that support both staff and organisational objectives.

As our next Employee Relations Consultant, you will be committed to fostering a positive workplace culture, offering expert ER and IR advice and support and ensuring compliance with employment laws and policies.

The Opportunity – Employee Relations Consultant

As the Employee Relations Consultant, you will play a key role in providing operational, tactical, and specialist advice to the People and Culture office on a diverse range of ER issues, as well as supporting with enterprise bargaining and other projects.

Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, Employee Relations, you will provide support and advice on a wide variety of people activities including industrial issues, disputes, and case management; and assist in maintaining positive employee relations, best practice, and legislative compliance. You will also act as a point of contact for the Employee Relations Advisors for assistance.

What you’ll bring to this role

Minimum degree qualification in Employee Relations, Human Resources, Law, or related field.Demonstrated experience working within Employee Relations, including experience working on ER cases and workplace investigations.Prior experience in working with Unions, including drafting correspondence, and attending Workplace Groups.Prior experience in legislative and compliance reporting.The ability to understand and interpret legislation including Case Law, Enterprise Agreements, the Fair Work Act 2009 and other legislation.Outstanding customer service and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.Effective verbal and written communications skills with previous experience in investigation or report writing, drafting correspondence, and presenting to a range of audiences.Knowledge of industrial law and/ or the higher education sector will be highly regarded.
