The Role:   Grade 4 Occupational Therapist Professional Leader –Older Adult Mental Health Program including the Specialist Older Adults Consultation Service (SOACS)


Ongoing part time, 48 hours per fortnight 

 

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapy Leader to join our expanding specialist older adult mental health program.   Northern Health Mental Health Division is one of the largest Mental health care providers in Melbourne.  This role offers the best of both worlds, the opportunity to support a growing occupational therapy workforce, contribute and drive quality improvement activities as well as maintain small clinical load.

 

Working across Northern Health Bundoora and Broadmeadows sites, The Gr 4 Occupational Professional leader will drive high quality service provision, quality improvement, staff performance, wellbeing, and professional development.   

 

The incumbent will be responsible for the development and maintenance of professional standards and knowledge brokerage in occupational therapy, and contribute to recruitment and retention processes. This includes the provision of clinical and professional leadership in the SOACS and older Adult Mental Health Inpatient Programs and ensuring that appropriate supervision and support is provided to occupational therapists in line with professional and network standards.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Mental Health
  • Experience in leading Occupational Therapy services and staff across multiple sites
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery-oriented practice and evidenced based occupation therapy interventions in the mental health care of older adults
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional leadership including the provision of supervision and consultation to staff of a mental health service
  • Experience in service improvement and innovation with an appreciation of interdisciplinary practice
  • Good working knowledge of NDIS and My Aged Care options, processes and requirements
  • High level leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Possesses highly developed self-management skills including the ability to meet tight timelines and prioritise competing demands
  • Able to interpret information, data and evidence to inform decision making and planning
  • Understands the governance and legislative responsibilities of an Occupational Therapy Leader and is able to work with the Director of Allied Health, Mental health and SOACS Manager to achieve these requirements
