About the Role

We have a brand-new role available for an Insurance Accountant to join our Group Insurance Team. This is a great opportunity for someone with an accounting or accounts processing background to expand their skillset into Insurance and support our Insurance Program Manager on our Insurance renewal strategy, alongside daily accounting responsibilities.  

You will also;    

  • Carry out banking, cancellation and reconciliation in relation to cheques returned or received from vendors 
  • Support the Senior Insurance Accountant in relation to reporting, journals, payment, reconciliation and analysis 
  • Support the Insurance Program Manager in partnering with the business to understand insurance risk financing requirements and ensure effective coverage, including timely, accurate and useful insurance insights 
  • Support the Insurance Program Manager in designing and implementing all aspects of the Group’s external insurance program 

About you and your skills

We are looking for a driven Accountant with sound commercial judgement and experience in either an Accounting or Accounts Payable environment, with a strong understanding of financial reporting compliance requirements, accounting standards, and procedures. Insurance experience is desirable, however it isn’t essential. 

You will also ideally have;  

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Business, or Insurance discipline 
  • Excellent Excel knowledge 
  • Intermediate knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting (Finance One, SAP, Hyperion, Cognos) 
  • Well-developed awareness of risk factors impacting the above work and how to mitigate them
