- Part-time 0.6FTE opportunity until June 2025 (possibility to extend)
- Based at our Coffs Harbour office (Gumbaynggirr Nation)
- $37 - $40.97 per hour + 11% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550
Are you passionate about supporting others on their recovery journey? We’re looking for an empathetic, experienced individual to join our team as an Adult Complex & Severe Peer Worker. In this role, you will use your lived experience to build meaningful, peer-to-peer relationships, inspire hope, and create connections that foster positive change and a brighter future for those navigating recovery.
As an Adult Complex & Severe Peer Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Building mutual, supportive relationships by sharing your lived experience, fostering hope, and promoting social change.
- Providing 1:1 peer support both onsite and through outreach, as well as facilitating peer support groups.
- Offering secondary consultation and education to staff and service providers to enhance recovery-oriented mental health and substance use services.
- Helping clients identify and develop recovery goals, promoting hope, choice, and social connectedness.
- Engaging in individual supervision and reflective practice to ensure your work aligns with best practices.
- Upholding recovery-focused values and utilizing Intentional Peer Support principles to create empathic and supportive relationships.
- Ongoing professional development to continuously grow in the role and improve service delivery.

Who we are looking for
We’re seeking a Peer Worker with the ability and willingness to self-reflect and share own experiences of recovery with others for the benefit of advancing their recovery.
The successful applicant will have:
- Lived experience of mental illness, substance dependence and/or trauma.
- Lived experience of the recovery journey.
- Group facilitation skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to human rights and social justice, trauma-informed care, and the harm minimisation approach.
- Personal experience of the public or private mental health or AOD systems (highly regarded).
- Advanced knowledge of the local area and its health services and other community services (highly regarded).
Qualifications
- Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work and/or Intentional Peer Support core training are highly desirable.
