Wellways Australia Limited is seeking a qualified Male Support Specialist to join our team in Coffs Harbour, NSW.

About the Role

This part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing opportunity involves providing a trauma-informed, non-clinical, practical support service to men, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, across the Healthy North Coast catchment.

The successful candidate will work individually with men at a time and place that suits them, supporting them to navigate distress and access relevant services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with local GPs and other allied health providers to facilitate referrals and support
  • Provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment for men to discuss their concerns and develop coping strategies
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting men's mental health
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery-oriented practice
  • Completion of a Certificate IV in Mental Health, Peer Work or Community Services, or equivalent experience
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • A current valid driver's license and ability to travel
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate and NDIS Worker Screening Check prior to commencement
