About this Opportunity

We are seeking a Men's Suicide Prevention Worker to join our team at Coffs Harbour, Mid North Coast, NSW. This program is a trauma-informed, non-clinical, practical support service aimed at supporting men across the HNC catchment.

The service will support men at a time and place that suits them, at a frequency that suits them. We will also develop relationships with local GPs and other allied health providers to help circulate information to male patients as a potential referral pathway. Our hub and spoke and community development model will support this engagement.

This position will be based with Wellways, however the program is part of a larger project funded by Healthy North Coast PHN. Working individually, Men's Suicide Prevention Workers will provide a trauma-informed, non-clinical, practical support service aimed at supporting men to access support and navigate distress. They will develop relationships with a wide range of local GPs and other allied health providers to help navigate Men access to these services.

Essential Requirements

  • A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery orientated mental health practice
  • Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health, Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work or Certificate 4 in Community Services, or equivalent practical experience working in a lived experience role.
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Current valid Driver Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
  • Satisfactory Police Records Check [less than 12 months old] and Working with Children Check, prior to commencement
  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/support-for-workers/training-course
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC) is mandatory prior to commencement
