The Approvals Officer is accountable for the effective and efficient management of the Airports Planning and Development Approvals, comprising the Airport Building Approval processes. This includes:
- The receipt, registration and processing of applications
- Coordination and oversight of the workflow process
- Assisting with general enquiries in relation to the status of applications.
- Liaising with internal and stakeholders
- Provision of approval related information as required.
- Manage and coordinate Airport Building Approvals including:
- Receive, register and process building applications.
- Verify that adequate information (including fees paid) has been provided.
- Coordinate and oversee the workflow process.
- Track and monitor applications and update registers and systems.
- Follow up on compliance matters.
- Assist with general enquiries in relation to the status of building applications.
- Provide approval related information as required.
- Ensure Building application status report is uploaded onto the Airport website as per requirements.
- Ensure the process meets the airports regulartary requirements.
- Liaison with the Commonwealth Airport Building Controller (as needed).
- Continued process improvement working with internal stakeholders to ensure the process is easy and efficient for all users.
- Manage and coordinate Airport Development Approvals including:
- Receive, register and process development applications.
- Coordinate and oversee the workflow process, working closely with the Urban Planner.
- Assist with general enquiries in relation to the status of development applications.
- Provide approval related information as required.
- Assist with the preparation and management of the process for Master Plans and Major Development Plans including:
- Assist with the management of consultants, including preparatory tasks related to tenders and contracts and purchase orders.
- Assist with the coordnation of publishing the documentation and consultation activites inline with the Airports Act.
- Document control.
- Other duties as required by the team to meet legislative, budget and cost outcomes.
- Establish effective internal and external working relationships and high standards of customer service.
- Identify, within the context of the position, the emerging issues and events in need of organisation and attention.
- Other duties as reasonably directed.
- Embed Customer Service in attitudes and actions.
- Contribute to a safe, healthy and discrimination free workplace.

Essential
- Tertiary qualification related to building industry
(facilities management / construction / development) - Satisfactory completion of secondary schooling to tertiary acceptance standard.
- Sound knowledge of the Building Industry
- Well developed oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Highly developed organisational skills and initiative and contribute in a team environment.
- High level computer skills, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft suite of packages.
- Significant experience in an administrative role in a regulated environment.
- Sound knowledge of office procedures and systems.
Desirable
- Drivers Licence.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, guidelines, relevant to the position.
