About the Role

The Manager Research and Development is responsible for identifying and developing research and development opportunities in line with Novita’s strategic directions. This position will play an important role in translating research into outcomes; developing products, prototypes and new practices consistent with research findings.

The Manager will provide line management of research teams, ensuring the ethical integrity and rigour of research projects. This position will provide oversight of the Innovita program; incorporating the lived experience of disability into research and development.

The Manager will also undertake strategic projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer. This position is a Full-time position based at Novita's Head office in Hindmarsh.

R & D Manager will be responsible for:

  • Translating research into outcomes; developing products and prototypes
  • Developing new practices informed by research findings
  • Ensuring the ethical integrity and rigour of research and evaluation projects
  •  Monitoring leading-edge developments in technology and services and assessing the implications for Novita
  •  Determining, implementing and monitoring research and development strategies and plans
  • developing and implementing research projects, priorities and targets to support commercial and policy developments
  • Leading major research projects and coordinating the activities of research workers
  • Assessing the benefits and monitoring the costs and effectiveness of research and development activities
  • Interpreting the results of research projects and recommending associated product and service development innovations 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Ability to lead a team to achieve research and development goals
  • Product development experience with a proven track record in completing projects from concept to shelf
  • Demonstrates strong project management, decision-making, problem-solving skills and negotiation skills
  • Grants application and management experience with a strong working knowledge of how major research funding bodies operate
  • Good financial stewardship, to achieve set budgets for new and repeat research projects, prepare and submit management reports outlining performance against budget
  • Masters level tertiary qualification
  • A lived experience of disability is preferred (but not essential)

Essential Requirements

You must be able to provide evidence that you have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (or hold a valid exemption). If you don’t already hold a current NDIS Worker Check and DHS Working with Children Check, we’ll let you know how to obtain these prior to starting work with us.

Remuneration Package and Benefits

Total remuneration package includes base salary, annual leave loading and statutory superannuation contribution. Enjoy salary packaging up to $15,900 of your salary, increasing your take-home pay by approximately $5,000. Further salary-packaging benefits available include meal and entertainment expenses, accommodation and venue hire, private novated leasing and additional superannuation contributions. You may access a fully maintained motor vehicle from Novita's fleet.
