Primary Objective: 

The Operation Manager is a critical role to manage the rapidly expanding operational footprint of data science products embedded in Coles' retail value chain, ensuring that all systems and processes are functioning efficiently and effectively. The role involves building a strong operations framework to define, maintain, and communicate SLAs of data science products underpinning Coles' business continuity.

Key Stakeholders: Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Team Members, AA and AI Leadership Team, Stream Leads, Principal Architects, and Delivery personnel, Technology group peers.

Personal Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in technology in Operations / Project / Product management.

  • Experience leading resolution activities including incident management.

  • Experience driving outcomes in high-pressure situations.

  • Experience leading a team of technical support associates.

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage and motivate teams, delegate tasks, and provide feedback.

  • Ability to operate in a resourceful and independent manner.

  • Proficiency in productivity applications - Jira, Confluence.

  • Commercial Skills & Formal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Business and commercial acumen.

  • Knowledge of platform architecture principles, frameworks, standards, and their practical application to data science.
    Proficiency in scripting languages, orchestration tools, on-prem, and cloud platforms, such as Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.

Areas of Accountability:

  • Shape the Analytics Centre of Excellence by contributing to a team culture that is smart, energizing, and ahead of the curve.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver valuable solutions to key business problems.

  • Ensure outputs are delivered according to agreed-upon service levels and quality standards.

  • Identify areas where IT processes can be improved to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
