The Eastern Treatment Plant is one of the most advanced wastewater treatment plants in the world, treating % of the flow to Class A recycled water providing a high quality product for agriculture, third pipe and industrial customers. The plant involves complex mechanical and electrical plant including advanced tertiary treatment and on site power generation from biogas and solar.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, ETP Operations, this is a pivotal leadership role within the ETP Operations team. As the Lead Operator - Day Operations you will be responsible for providing practical hands-on operational expertise into planned works and system augmentations. This will be achieved through:

Participate in key works planning meetings and review processes, providing operational input into the works program, outage planning, advising of simultaneous operations risks and resourcing requirements Co-ordinate commissioning of new plant and equipment, contractors’ permits and isolations and ensure safe operating procedures are followed and the site continues to operate with the Operating envelope. Provide emergency response to system failures, identifying cause and effect, ensuring prompt recovery of operations. Develop the capability of all team members focusing on performance & system optimization Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives

About you:

Proven leadership experience Ability to make decisions and remain focused in a rigorous technical environment. A Diploma in engineering or science, or, relevant equivalent experience in treatment, &/or maintenance processes (minimum 3 years) Experience working in a complex process plant environment Excellent level of oral and written communication skills. Highly developed organisational and time management skills. Cert III in Water Operations or Trade certificate would be desirable
