Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) is looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Lead to join our team and play a key role in developing and executing strategic procurement initiatives across our Capital Works and Infrastructure projects. In this leadership position, your expertise will directly impact the success of our procurement function and our ability to deliver world-class infrastructure and services.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, as the Senior Procurement Lead, you’ll lead the creation of category strategies, manage major tenders, and oversee the execution of State Purchase Contracts and precinct-wide agreements. This high-impact role will see you working closely with business leaders to align procurement activities with organisational objectives, deliver value for money, and minimise procurement risks.
Here are some of the game-changing things you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in:
Shaping strategic procurement objectives
You’ll work closely with the Head of Procurement to develop and deliver high-impact procurement strategies that drive long-term value for M&OP, optimising spend and reducing risk across key categories.
Leading the development of category strategies
With a primary focus on Capital Works Construction and Infrastructure services, you’ll develop and implement targeted strategies for ‘Focused’ and ‘Leveraged’ spend areas, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
Driving major procurement activities
You’ll take charge of tendering processes, contract negotiations, and other major procurement initiatives, ensuring that we secure the best commercial outcomes while maintaining compliance with procurement regulations.
Data-driven category management & reporting
You’ll lead the development of category planning, leveraging data analytics and stakeholder engagement to create actionable insights, and manage the reporting of M&OP’s Procurement Plan to track progress and optimize performance.
What you will bring to the role:
- Extensive experience in strategic procurement, with a focus on capital works, construction, or infrastructure
- Expertise in contract negotiation, including the AS Suite of construction contracts
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a track record of influencing senior leaders and driving cross-functional collaboration
- Expertise in procurement compliance, risk management, and leveraging data to inform decision-making
- Experience in developing and executing category strategies to optimise spend and reduce risks
- Tertiary qualifications in business, construction, infrastructure services, project management, or related field
If you have any additional queries about the role, please contact Molley Qi (mqi@mopt.vic.gov.au) or Tessa Weerasooriya (tweerasooriya@mopt.vic.gov.au).
Please note, applications close on Wednesday, 27th November.
