HOBAN Recruitment is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented APS4 Level Policy Analyst to join a key government agency, located in SURRY HILLS SYDNEY NSW. About the Role:
As an APS4 Level Policy Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Investment Effectiveness Program (IEP) within the Analytics, Data, and Actuarial Division.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Policy Analysis: Analyse and interpret legislation, policies, and reports to support strategic decision-making.
  • Research: Conduct desktop research to inform policy and strategy design.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including organising meetings and workshops.
  • Documentation: Contribute to briefings, reports, business cases, and other executive materials.
  • Meeting Preparation: Develop agendas, materials, and presentations for meetings and workshops.

About You:
We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with experience preparing reports, briefs, and other documents.
  • Analytical Abilities: Conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise information from various sources.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant social sciences qualification (e.g., political science, public policy, economics, sociology, communications) and familiarity with qualitative research.
  • Experience working or studying in an interdisciplinary context, with an understanding of complex concepts from statistics, econometrics, or health economics.
  • Knowledge of current policy trends and debates within the disability sector and social policy in Australia.
