HOBAN Recruitment is seeking a motivated APS 5 Level Policy Analyst to support a critical project within our client's framework located in Surry Hills NSW.
As part of the Investment Effectiveness Program (IEP) team, you will play a pivotal role in analysing and refining policies that impact budgets and participant outcomes.
This is a project-based position where your insights will contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth policy analysis related to budgets and outcomes.
  • Support stakeholder consultations to gather valuable insights on scheme effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of impact/evaluation models.
  • Prepare high-quality papers, briefings, and reports to communicate findings.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Work autonomously on assigned tasks, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate findings into broader project outcomes.

About You:

  • Analytical Skills: Strong critical thinking and the ability to synthesise complex information.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with experience preparing concise reports.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage and manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Autonomous Worker: Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Data Proficiency: Understanding of quantitative and qualitative data in policy contexts.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in social sciences, public policy, economics, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in government or consulting roles, particularly in social policy or disability services.
  • Understanding of government budget processes and outcome measurements.
  • Familiarity with impact evaluation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of the disability sector and broader social policy trends in Australia.
