What you will do

Volvo Group Australia manages the manufacturing, distribution and operation of well-known brands such as Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks, Volvo Bus, Volvo Penta, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Financial Services. 

VGA is seeking a dedicated and experienced SHEQ Business Partner to join our People and Culture team. This role is crucial for providing subject matter expertise and practical support to leaders across various divisions to continuously improve our Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) culture and management systems. 

The SHEQ Business Partner (SHEQ BP) will collaborate with leaders to enhance their awareness and accountability for managing SHEQ risks. You will possess a deep understanding of our core business needs, offering practical recommendations that align with legislative requirements while educating leaders and their workforce on their SHEQ responsibilities. 

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Partner with and coach leaders to integrate SHEQ risk management into their strategic plans. Assist leaders in implementing SHEQ strategies, policies, and procedures. Maintain and ensure compliance with the SHEQ Management System. Ensure that hazard, incident and injury reporting processes are implemented Produce SHEQ performance reports and coach leaders on performance review and improvement. Coordinate and deliver SHEQ training programs. Lead serious incident investigations (ICAM) and mentor leaders in the process. Conduct internal and external SHEQ audits 

Who are you?

You should have tertiary qualifications in WHS or an equivalent discipline, with an undergraduate degree being highly desirable. You will need at least 3 years of experience in a SHEQ role, ideally within the manufacturing, production, or construction industries. Experience as a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator is highly desirable, along with a strong background in leading complex incident investigations (ICAM). 

You must be able to build and maintain strong relationships, influence leadership teams and stakeholders, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Independent judgment and effective problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to self-manage and work collaboratively. You should be capable of interpreting and applying relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines within the SHEQ discipline for the manufacturing and retail industry sectors.
