Job Description

BESIX Watpac are proud to be delivering the Mackay Base Hospital Expansion Project, adding to our 40-year legacy of delivering health infrastructure projects in Queensland.  We have an opportunity for a Site Manager to manage the site construction team and activities, including programming and coordination of all subcontractors, suppliers and logistics.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Coordinate all construction activities on site and be in total control of the efficient daily running of the site.
  • Proactively drive company safety, environment and quality policies, practices and procedures in compliance with Management Plans and OH&S legislative requirements to provide a safe workplace at all times.
  • Ensure that all the conditions and regulations are complied with and company programmes are implemented and maintained with regards to safety, industrial relations, and quality assurance.
  • Call and chair site co-ordination meetings of subcontractors, suppliers and members of the design team, as required, to discuss progress, co-ordination, work practices and other relevant details to ensure a timely and professional construction progress.
  • Review the construction programme carrying out updates, re-sequencing as necessary to achieve the programmed completion date.
  • Ensure that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract documents, and the requirements of the local authorities, and relevant standards.

Qualifications

The incumbent in this role will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Strong building experience, with demonstrated success in delivering large, complex projects in a Site Manager capacity.
  • Degree/Diploma in building/construction, or other recognised tertiary or trade qualification in a construction related field.
  • Sound leadership skills and ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high pressure environment.
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic.
