Position Summary

The Recruiting Officer is responsible for managing, developing, and leading the recruiting program. This role leads and implements the recruitment processes, and all hiring practices, including but not limited to: activating job postings for home office positions (and any other relevant roles across the business), screening application packets, scheduling interviews and participating in the interview process, extending job offers to the selected qualified candidates, providing written turn down letters to applicants who are not selected, and ensures a successful on-boarding. This position is responsible for the development and execution of Costco’s strategic vision and ensuring that recruitment aligns with Costco's diversity and inclusion program. As the primary conduit between employees, and upper leadership, this position plays a vital role in communicating and modelling the values and guiding principles of our company culture as outlined in the Costco Mission and Code of Ethics.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

  • Manages and executes talent acquisition (recruiting, documenting, extends offer, interviewing, onboarding, etc.)
  • Updates current and designs new recruiting procedures. 
  • Consults with senior management teams to determine hiring forecasts. Develops and strategies to meet recruiting and hiring goals.
  • Ensures job requirements and expectations are clearly understood. Identifies qualified candidates based on required technical skills, and transferable skills for open position.
  • Sources, screens and contacts potential candidates using methods such as: preparing presentations, speaking, and participating in recruiting events across the country, facilitating internal job fairs, social media, recruiting networks, and other creative recruiting techniques within the bounds of Costco Policy.
  • Manages job postings, and data collection to efficiently and effectively match prospective candidates to the proper positions utilising an Applicant Tracking System.
  • Validates the qualified candidate(s) by verifying factual information to determine their relevant strength.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to increase effective utilisation of the recruiting and onboarding platforms.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new methods for recruiting candidates and generating new leads.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures, ethical practices, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Identifies opportunities for streamlining, increasing effectiveness through continuous process improvement.
  • Tracks attrition and reports trends, and works towards increasing employee retention.
  • Runs and analyses reports for attrition, hiring trends, financial impacts, payroll, and other pertinent information.
  • Provides support and guidance to management regarding personnel needs.
  • Tracks offer packages and coordinates with management to maintain consistency within the relevant department(s).
  • Manages recruitment efforts and placement fee budgets.
  • Travel interstate in Australia or to New Zealand approximately 3 times per month to run recruiting events at locations. 
  • Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.
