Job Description

Personalised Plates Queensland (PPQ) works together with the Department of Transport and Main Roads and is responsible for the marketing and sales of personalised number plates throughout the state. The PPQ Team have a passion for plates and a genuine interest in helping Queenslanders express themselves on the road. Proceeds from the sale of plates support road safety initiatives in Queensland. 

Currently, Publicis Groupe Australia, one of the world’s largest marketing and advertising groups, has the contract to manage the PPQ business.

Off the back of continued business growth, we are currently on the lookout for a driven Lead Developer to join our dynamic and innovative team.

Role description

As PPQ’s Lead Developer, you will be responsible for the technical ownership and maintenance of our high-volume, high-value consumer E-commerce environment.

Your scope will include the following:

Software Development

Spearhead the design and development efforts using:C#.NETSQLReactTypescriptAWSOther technologies as necessitated by the business Drive the implementation of major and minor roadmap items, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals and timelines

Solution Architecture

Architect and refine solutions for major and minor roadmap and backlog items, producing detailed documentation and work breakdown structures for accurate estimation Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.

Release Management

Oversee regular releases and environment upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to services Implement and maintain a robust delivery pipeline to streamline the deployment process

Application Maintenance

Oversee the updating and maintenance of applications, addressing any issues promptly to maintain optimal performance and user experience; in line with the delivery pipeline

Vendor Coordination

Act as the primary technical contact for infrastructure and cybersecurity managed service providers Coordinate their activities to ensure seamless integration and support of our technical infrastructure

People Management and Leadership

Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Mentor junior developers, helping them grow their technical skills and professional capabilities Influence the digital team in adopting best practices and methodologies for software development. Setting technical direction and ensure adherence to coding standards, architecture principles, and security guidelines Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members. Set clear goals and objectives, encouraging accountability and ownership of tasks

Development Standards

Champion and enforce development team code, architecture, and security standards. Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency, reliability, and maintainability of our applications

The person we’re looking for has:

Senior level experience (5+ years) in a variety of programming languages including C#.NET, Typescript, AWS, SQL, React, etc. Deep knowledge of software architecture, design patterns and industry best practices Familiar with API development and design as well as microservices Experience in managing software development projects from inception to delivery Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and succinctly Proficiency in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) to facilitate iterative development and continuous improvement Ability to provide constructive feedback and performance evaluations to foster growth and improvement Leadership skills and a commitment to promoting a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the team Capacity to align team goals and activities with broader organisational objectives Commitment to maintaining high standards of code quality, security, and performance Ability to adapt to changing priorities, requirements, and technologies; while identifying and resolving technical challenges effectively
