Client Details

A national for-purpose organisation, our client is a great support for families dealing with illness. 

Currently in a growth phase, our client seeks to appoint a competent Grants Manager into the team. The Grants Manager will support our client to deliver its services and programs nationally and includes the identification and submission of grant applications for funding, leveraging the Strategic Grants GEMS Portal to prepare and apply for grants.

The role will also assist in identifying prospective relationships and partnerships, and pursue funding avenues across corporates, foundations/ charitable trusts/ PAFS and major donor/ philanthropy channels in line with the company's charitable objectives.

Description 

The function is responsible for:

  • End-to-end grant management, including effective prospect research, pipeline establishment and management through Salesforce and Asana
  • Delivering effective grant applications to help drive new revenue growth
  • Maintaining and developing current funders through effective acquittals and progress updates,
  • Reporting on the national grants function to senior leadership for board discussions.

Core responsibilities of the Grants Manager:

  • Ownership of a pipeline for new and existing grant opportunities and diverse funding opportunities from public and private organisations, Government funders, Foundations/ Trusts, and individuals in line with the strategic priorities of the organisation.
  • Work alongside Chief Support, Services, and Impact to understand the tied and untied funding needs of the organisation to strategically guide the development of grant proposals/ applications and new program funding
  • Establish and configure a corporate donation/contribution dashboard in Salesforce for ease of tracking and reporting
  • Execute grant applications worth $5K+ on behalf of organisation.
  • Write and prepare high quality funding applications and submissions aligned with strategic priorities and support programs and ensure compliance as required.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain grants/ funding pipeline through the GEMS portal, Salesforce and Asana (both existing relationships and new prospects), providing a holistic overview of the grants forecast per financial year, and lead strategic discussions around approach and solicitation of these identified funders.
  • Identify any untied funding opportunities with major donors, charitable foundations, and trusts that will support future reserves to support growth of the organisation.
  • Manage the grant process from start to finish, including prospecting, application and proposal process and acquittal, ensuring organisational standards, grant application and fundraising policy requirements are
  • In collaboration with Grant Owners and through the utilisation of Salesforce and Asana, ensure all actions are completed at the end the grant submission acquittal processes are met, including all compliance obligations.
  • Offers ad-hoc support and training to other teams where needed, particularly around supporting individuals with writing and submitting community grants (less than $5K), CRM management and data cleansing.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the organisation's work and the external market environment, keep up to date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector and inform stakeholders of items that would benefit. Attend any relevant and accessible fundraising events, showcasing any key outcomes to colleagues.
  • Responsible for the entire dynamic forecast of grants through Salesforce, including a readily accessible Grants Dashboard allowing for reports on the grants pipeline, including forecast, existing, expiring, renewing of grants and applications, including analysis of wins/ losses.
  • Ensure Salesforce CRM database is kept up to date with accurate information at all times.
  • Support the completion of accountability reports and acquittal guidelines for grants, alongside Chief Support, Services, Impact.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in a fundraising or development role in a not-for-profit, social impact, or community services environment.
  • A demonstrated and proven track record of achieving revenue
  • Demonstrated success in researching, investigating, preparing and acquitting grant applications with a proven track record of achieving ambitious revenue targets.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills as demonstrated by successful proposals/ grant applications being accepted by a major partner or donor.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships, with a strong track record of achieving targets within set time-frames and limited resources.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • Highly organised, reliable, efficient & detail orientated with excellent written & verbal communication skills.
