Coal Technician

Great opportunity to join our team in Gladstone as a Coal technician on a casual basis. You will be responsible but not limited to:
- Accurately conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples.
- To ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
- Receipting, recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required.
- Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
- Plan shift workflow and coordinate pick-ups and analysis.
- Compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems.
- Maintain safe working environment
Qualifications
If you have previously worked in semi manual or industrial environments, in a hands-on role, then this work would suit you. SGS will provide you with full training as required and, on the job learning, but as the successful candidate you will also have:
- Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience is desirable, however not mandatory.
- Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred.
- Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial (G6 preferred, but not essential).
- Ability to be a team player with strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure.
