Coal Technologist

Our NATA-accredited laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025) serve all major coal ports in Australia and are involved in the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites and power plants, and borecore evaluation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join our team in Gladstone, QLD as a Coal Technician on a casual basis. As a Coal Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples with accuracy.
• Ensuring precision and traceability of prepared samples.
• Receiving, recording, sorting, and storing coal samples as required.
• Assisting with the preventative maintenance of preparation and laboratory equipment.
• Planning shift workflow and coordinating pick-ups and analysis.
• Complying with analytical methods, procedures, and SGS Quality Systems.
• Maintaining a safe working environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in semi-manual or industrial environments, preferably in a hands-on role.
• Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent experience.
• Good computer skills, especially in Excel (G6 preferred but not essential).
• The ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
