Aboutthe role

TheInfrastructure and Operations Division is custodian of over $6B ininfrastructure assets across portfolios of: Transport, Storm water,Open Space, Water, Wastewater, Waste, Cemeteries, Coastal,Buildings and Facilities assets. The management of these assetsrequires a large capital renewals program comprising hundreds ofvarious sized projects annually. In addition, continuing growth ofthe city drives the need for new infrastructure or upgrades toexisting infrastructure.

Somespecifics of the role include:

Formulating plans of work as a part of the job analysis for individual projects and complete pre-start and pre-work checks to ensure the safe operation of all plant and trucks Exercising responsibility for the maintenance and condition of trucks and plant, which includes completing routine condition inspections, the reporting of faults or breakdowns, secure storage, cleaning and minor maintenance and repairs as required.

Our ideal candidate willhave:

Current HC Drivers Licence and final trim experience with the ability to level tolerances (mandatory) Plant Operators’ Certificates of Competency for the types and classes of plant utilised in this position (Excavator) Experience in the operation of a range of plant (road roller/skid steer/backhoe/mini excavator) to achieve construction tolerance for local authority works Year 10 Certificate or proficient literacy and numeracy skills to a standard commensurate with the requirements of this position Certificate associated with the successful completion of the Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to achieve set outcomes and ability to create effective working relationships to ensure team objectives are met Knowledge and experience in the efficient and safe operation of heavy ridged vehicles and other item of plant; including servicing requirements and prestart checks and basic mechanical knowledge associated with day-to-day maintenance of plant and trucks Basic knowledge of construction and maintenance practices associated with the development and maintenance of municipal infrastructure Knowledge of Aus-Spec, Australian Standards, Load Restraint Guide, Work Health and Safety legislative requirements, Quality Assurance procedures and all other relevant standards, guidelines and codes in the operation of heavy vehicles in a civil construction / local government environment
