The Role
The Events and Ceremonies team are responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Australian War Memorial’s commemorative program, including the annual Anzac Day and Remembrance Day national commemorations, minor ceremonies and events; and official visits to the Memorial. Members of the team are allocated minor events on an individual project basis, while also being assigned a role working with the whole team on the larger national projects. The team work onsite and collaborate with each other, as well as teams across the Memorial to ensure the commemorative program is delivered to the high standard for which we are renowned.

Under general direction, working both individually and as a member of the team, you will coordinate and oversee the planning and delivery of assigned ceremonial and event projects; and official visits. You will take lead on assigned projects, with the guidance of senior team members and managers, as well as assist other team members in the delivery of their projects.

A highly organised and motivated individual, you will be able to prioritise tasks whilst managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. You will communicate effectively to achieve desired outcomes, managing internal and external relationships, and will be comfortable reporting project updates to other team members and managers.

The position requires demonstrated experience with, or understanding of, event and/or project management principles. You will possess a high level of administrative and communication skills with attention to detail; a familiarity with or willingness to participate in government procurement and WHS processes, and well developed stakeholder management experience.

Additional notes:

- There are no media or marketing aspects to this position.

- This position is required to work outside core business hours, on weekends, public and school holidays as needed. All staff are required to work during the peak periods of March, April, October and November for the preparations and delivery of the Anzac and Remembrance Day national commemorations.

- Manual handing is a requirement of the position.
