About the role
Reporting to the Civil Supervisor Maryborough an exciting opportunity has opened up due to internal promotion.As the Heavy Rail Plant Operator, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development and Asset Maintenance (NDAM) Group.
You will be a major contributor in keeping Victoria’s passenger and freight network moving throughout the region by participating in maintenance of rail infrastructure, including the renewal of bridges, culverts, signal structures, signage, platforms and other miscellaneous structures.
The current roster provides you with the flexibility of working 7 am to 4.30 pm Tuesday to Friday. Giving you every Monday off, promoting work life balance, to give you the time to spend more time doing the things you love outside of work.
Key Accountabilities include:
Contribute to a safe workplace environment where risks are identified, understood, and managed. Operate heavy plant equipment in a safe manner. Cleaning and general maintenance ensuring services are completed for truck and other plant equipment. You may be required to work away from home in various locations around Victoria on occasion.Why V/Line

About you
The Heavy Rail Plant Operator will form part of a small team consisting of structures maintainers, other plant and equipment operators where you will work closely as a team to complete daily maintenance tasks, supervised the Ganger (Team Lead/Foreman).
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

Valid Heavy Combination (HC) Truck Drivers License Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (highly desirable) A zero harm safety approach is essential. Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019) and will be paid as an IMW (TRACK) 2.2 $42.4808
Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
