About the role
The Head of Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for the planning, governance, and successful delivery of all projects across the organisation. This role will manage a team of Project Managers (both technical and generalist) through the PMO with an emphasis on stakeholder engagement, change management and strong governance and reporting to ensure high quality project outcomes are delivered.
A key part of the role will be to guide the successful delivery of programs and projects, supporting the Executive and Project Managers to execute effectively and efficiently to deliver the best client and organisational outcomes. The Head of PMO will strengthen capabilities that comprehensively manage program delivery consistent with set milestones, timelines and budgets, while proactively managing delivery risks and end-to-end interdependencies across business units.
This is permanent full-time position based at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities include
- Manage and lead a team of Project Managers and Project Officers
- Articulate and report the objectives and progress of the agreed projects and strategic initiatives to the Executive Team as required through appropriate governance forums
- Oversee and support, where issues arise, Project Managers’ engagement with the heads of Residential Care, Home Care, Hospital and other relevant project sponsors.
- Uplift project management disciplines and capabilities by diffusing best practice approaches and methodologies across the organisation
- Develop and oversee a continuous learning mindset to projects and initiatives through consistent reviews, capturing of learnings and Executive feedback to ensure ongoing improvement of project delivery and continuous improvement.
- Oversee development of methodology and frameworks for tracking and reporting projects and continuous improvement across the business.
- Proactively resolve issues that impact delivery of projects – both tactically (within project) as well as identifying strategic change (across projects) to develop a more robust system.
- Act as an agent for change, challenging the status quo to improve our ability to deliver projects and continuous improvement – in particular working with our IT and Finance partners and guiding implementation to consider the external capabilities through partnership and commercial relationships.
- Work with key stakeholders to consider how to support the successful delivery of Strategic Initiatives as outlined in the Next Chapter: HammondCare 2025.
- Determine appropriate continuous improvement methodologies to uplift capability across the organisation
- Provide expertise and advice to key business stakeholders on continuous improvement practices and approaches
About You
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
- At least 10 years’ experience as a senior people leader who brings a strong track record in delivering large complex projects and organisational change in response to business transformation or change initiatives.
- Experienced in navigating through ambiguity, delivering greater clarity from experience gained in process simplification, business acumen, leadership, change management and project management
- Demonstrated track record of successful execution of projects
- Track record in driving continuous improvement at scale
- Ability to leverage your experience to drive continuous improvement across HammondCare, uplifting capability across the organisation in process and operational improvement
- Strong understanding of project management tools and methodologies
- Understanding of relevant Government departments, regulators etc.
- High level leadership and people skills
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and peers
- Ability to work to deadlines, sometimes with tight timeframes, and work under pressure
- Logical thinker with strong planning and organisation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for health and aged care
