About our Graduate Dentist Program
Transitioning from dental school is an exciting milestone, and we’re here to help set you up for success in your dental career Our DHSV Graduate Recruitment team will connect you with mentors, experienced clinicians, and clinical managers who will guide you through the different stages of the program.
You will commence with us at the start of the new year. As a graduate, you will gain diverse experience by working in various departments at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne including Primary Care and other specialised units. This hands-on experience will involve observing, assisting, and performing treatments under the supervision of specialists. Rotations, lasting from 2 to 4 months, are tailored to specific clinics. These rotations offer valuable learning opportunities, connecting you with specialist clinics in our setting.
Reporting to our Head of Unit in Primary Care, our Graduate Dentists will be provided with thorough induction and training in your first few months.
You will become a part of a larger team within our Primary Care Department of clinicians, including Dentists, OHTs, Prosthetists, Oral Health Educators, Dental Assistants, Students and the Specialists team whilst on your rotation.
You will play a significant role in providing emergency and general dental care within a value-based health care framework, including to those patients with complex medical histories and disabilities.
At the end of our Graduate Dentist Program, you can expect to benefit in several key areas:

About you:
- Recent graduates with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Science and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (or equivalent).
- Current, unrestricted AHPRA Registration (or by January 2025)
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with both patients and colleagues
- A desire for continuous learning and adaptability
- Committed to maintaining the utmost ethical and professional principles.
