The opportunity 

The Finance Officer in our residential team ensures that revenue processing, receipting, client account administrative support, electronic claiming, credit control and month end reports are carried out in a timely and accurate manner. The Finance officer will also be providing operational support and assisting finance team members with queries relating to billing, debtor collection, and account enquires.

This is a permanent full-time role based at St Leonards with working from home flexibility in line with HammondCare policy. Some travel between HammondCare sites and facilities may be required from time to time.

Duties include

  • Create, maintain and electronically transmit client information
  • Review and resolve anomalies / variances in a timely manner
  • Prepare, review and process the invoicing/billing of resident fees and sundry charges
  • Processing of resident on charge / discharge /resident refunds on a timely manner
  • Generate client Statements/Invoices in line with HammondCare procedures
  • Reconciliation of subsidy and income tested fee (ITF) received and prepare estimation of billing for the end of month
  • Action aged debtor reports on a regular basis, with a focus on reducing the average age of outstanding debts to HammondCare. Build relationships and liaise with relevant HammondCare business managers, staff, clients, residents, and third party organisations regarding slow or non-payment of accounts so that appropriate decisions and actions can occur.
  • Understanding of the aging report and proactive phone calls to residents to manage the outstanding debts
  • Process payments including cash, cheques, EFT, direct debits and credit card in the appropriate system. Issue receipts as required
  • Investigate and respond to account enquiries via phone, email and mail within documented timeframes. Enquiries may be received from staff, clients, residents, patients, financial representatives, Government Departments and other third parties. Enquiries may include but are not limited to querying of cash or cheque receipts, fee structures, refunds and explanation of statements processed
  • Appropriate escalation and follow-up actions to other members of the Finance teams as required. Present a friendly and professional face to external enquirers and internal HammondCare staff

Who are you?

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • A minimum of 2 year’s demonstrated experience in accounts receivable or similar role
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Empathy and patience

Desirable

  • Background in Aged Care industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Aged Care legislation including the Aged Care Act 1997, Principles, Residential Care Manual and Community Care Guidelines
  • Experience with SUN Systems
  • Experience with Epicor SLS
  • Experience in Coupa system
  • Experience with Medicare online claiming systems (PRODA)
