About the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Officer to deliver effective financial services within our Business Insights and Excellence group. This role is crucial in ensuring that our processes and procedures are compliant with the relevant accounting standards, while enhancing the overall experience for our business customers. This is a Part Time 0.8 ongoing opportunity.

About Business Insights and Excellence

The Business Insights and Excellence group drives operational excellence by enabling best business practices, economic pricing, supply chain management, and performance optimisation to support the broader business and partners in delivering reliable, cost-effective, sustainable, and future-focused outcomes.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Lead and manage the month-end processing cycle, ensuring the integrity of financial information through account reconciliation, transaction oversight, and collaboration with business units, including identifying process deficiencies and providing recommendations
  • Build strong working relationships within the Finance team and across business units, offering timely advice and support for financial reconciliations and reporting.
  • Regularly evaluate, document and update where required Finance processes and procedures, identifying areas for enhancement and ensuring timely achievement of outcomes.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Experience in analysing transactional data and making informed recommendations.
  • Proven ability to foster partnerships across various functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field (Essential)
  • Familiarity with financial information systems, particularly Ellipse (Desirable)
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in costing and governance principles, with an understanding of operational functions in the infrastructure service industry (Desirable)
