About This Opportunity 

The Associate Director, Operations will play a pivotal role in leading the daily operations of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN), an esteemed Australian Government-funded research initiative.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to make a significant national impact by coordinating and overseeing operations across a diverse range of capabilities spread across all states and territories. You will manage a broad range of operational aspects, including risk assessment, human resources, financial oversight, and legal matters in alignment with the TERN vision and mission.

About You

The successful candidate will bring a blend of relevant experience in management, engineering, law and finance, ideally gained within a research infrastructure environment. You will be an excellent communicator with a proven ability to write influential business cases and documents. Interpersonal skills are necessary for negotiating, establishing credibility and building relationships with diverse groups. Strong organisational and project management skills are crucial, demonstrated by a successful track record of delivering projects on time. Experience in budgeting and government procurement, particularly related to capital equipment, depreciation, and life cycles, is also required. Familiarity with governance models for large grant-funded projects in the university sector is important.
