The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Officer to join our finance for a 12 month contract with a possibility of an extension.  This role will involve handling a variety of accounting tasks, with a focus on accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions, and maintaining key records.  The day to day duties and responsibilities in this role will include:

The day to day duties and responsibilities in this role will include:Accounts Payable 

  • Input invoices, manual cheques, and EFT payments into the company’s cost management system, matching relevant information to orders or subcontracts.
  • Reconcile creditors' statements and ledgers monthly, ensuring all outstanding balances are addressed.
  • Process manual cheques, EFT payments, and issue payment remittances.
  • Continuously audit and review payment requests to maintain the accuracy of all transactions.
  • Assist with data entry of purchase orders and invoices as required.

Accounts Receivable

  • Communicate and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers and customers.
  • Issue tax invoices to clients when progress claims are approved or certified.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth payment processing flow.
  • Follow up on any uncertified claims and ensure timely resolution.
  • Process EFT deposits and receipts, maintaining accurate records.

General Accounts Administration:

  • Process overhead and general ledger invoices and submit them for approval.
  • Process general ledger journals as required.
  • Manage both internal and external queries related to accounts payable and receivable.
  • Maintain and update creditors' and debtors' records.
  • Reconcile the bank account on a monthly basis.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support to the Sarah Group Finance Team as required.
  • Participate in any other accounts payable, receivable, or finance-related activities as directed by management.

Skills & Experience
Proven experience in accounts payable and receivable functions.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with various accounting systems (ABBYY, Jobpac, M-Files, Aroflo experience preferred).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
